About Chad

I became a therapist because I know how disorienting it can feel when the beliefs that once guided your life start to feel heavy, confusing, or even unsafe. Over the years, I’ve sat with many clients who were told to “just have more faith” while their anxiety, shame, and loneliness were quietly growing. Those stories matter deeply to me, and they’re a big part of why I specialize in religious trauma and faith transitions. I’m a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Calming Transformations Counseling. My work is trauma-informed, collaborative, and grounded in deep respect for your values—whether you’re staying in your faith, redefining it, or stepping away. I often draw from approaches like CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy, along with a gentle, curious exploration of the messages you’ve received about worthiness, obedience, perfectionism, and belonging. In our sessions, my goals are to help you: 1. Untangle religious trauma, spiritual abuse, and fear-based teachings 2. Reduce anxiety, self-criticism, and people-pleasing 3. Reconnect with your body, emotions, and inner voice 4. Build a sense of self that isn’t based only on rules, roles, or others’ expectations I frequently work with clients navigating LDS and Christian backgrounds, mixed-faith or faith-shift relationships, scrupulosity/religious OCD, and the grief that often accompanies changing beliefs. You don’t have to know exactly what you believe to start therapy with me.
